Geraldine Rosa Henderson, Ph.D.

@Geraldine Rosa Henderson (Newark, NJ / Austin, TX / Chicago, IL) first moved to Austin, TX in 2004 when she joined the University of Texas at Austin as an Associate Professor of Advertising. Although she is now an Associate Professor of Marketing at Rutgers Business School, Rutgers University Newark and New Brunswick, NJ, she still also lives in Austin, TX. Her primary areas of research include marketplace diversity, digital marketing, and consumer networks (cognitive and social).  In particular, she has conducts research on and about online communities (also known as Virtual Support Communities) in which otherwise marginalized and/or or ostracized individuals portray virtual ethnicity and find fictive kinship. She has authored over 50 publications.  Prior to pursuing her Ph.D., she worked for several years at IBM in Relationship Marketing (specializing in the Healthcare, Insurance, and Pharmaceutical Industries) and briefly in Brand Management at Kraft Foods. She considers herself a “Doctorpreneur” since she often serves as a marketing consultant and a research moderator. She received her Ph.D. and MBA in Marketing from Northwestern University’s J. L. Kellogg School of Management and her B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University.
